i was in love with new york before ever having gone there so my

recent first trip to the big apple only solidified my feelings.

just a few of the things i noticed along the way.  a trash can

at 34th street, a really cool address and a beautiful brick wall

(the same wall i used as my header).

for any project runway fan this stop was a must.  i 

was well rewarded for the time it took to find this random

fabric store.  after the first hour of shopping i discovered that there were 2 more 

floors of fabric to comb through and i was beyond delighted!!

i've never in my whole life seen more beautiful patterns and 

materials all in one place.

budapest

the courtyard of the hostel we stayed in.

we got super lucky with this one after a few

sketchy experiences in other city hostels.

when in budapest you must visit the many healing mineral baths. 

(you will be in europe so watch out for the inevitable speedo sightings though!)

 

one of the 6 bridges connecting buda to pest across

the river.

inside the hill that houses the large city cathedral is a giant labyrinth that was

once used to confuse and confine prisoners.  erika and i 

had quite the adventure braving the twists and curves in the dark dungeons below.

there was something so charming about this little cafe.

for the life of me i could not figure out just what these 

soldiers were supposed to represent.  any guesses?

salzburg

this little austrian alps town is a must see. 

its the birthplace of mozart and home to the sound of music.

what more could you ask for!

gunther, our sound of music tour guide took us to this little haven.

this is the lake where the von trapp children swim in 

the film.  the view was so surreal.  the mountain there in 

the background is apparently the one they had to climb to get away from the nazi's.

austria had such detailed glass

this is a photo dedicated to ruthy and all you coke zero-ers out there.  

there were motorcycles loaded down with mini cans of it

 cruising through the streets giving away samples, thus the 

littering of coke zero cans in random locations.

 

shopping in salzburg was quite 

an experience.  this amazing wood carving was on the 

side of the H & M store.

this bathroom was in the hundertwasserhaus district of vienna.

an area not uncommon to find this kind of eclectic tile work, very

nightmare before christmas!

how amazing is that glass

one of my favorite lunches. tomatoes,

fresh mozarella cheese, fresh basil, a baguette and balsamic

vinegar. we would make our purchase and find 

one of the many large city parks and sit and enjoy this 

amazing meal and watching local life as it went on around us.

i appreciated this time to slow down from the pace of traveling

and enjoy a little piece of daily life.

the st. charles bridge

this little table set up was suspended 

on the ceiling in one of my favorite cafes.

the meal was incredible and the decor only 

enhanced the experience.

i couldn't resist snapping this photo as 

these 2 ladies looked perfectly

at home sitting in their comfy, plush chairs

out on the street corner.  

so quirky!

i love the color of this building and most 

especially the cute little man peeping out the side

window watching life go on below.

this stairway was crazy.  it was a serious hike leading

 up to castle hill but once there it was well worth it!
